To see what the Camera sees within 3D Max, you can switch one of your Viewport windows to disply camera.01.01.root. The camera needs to be Linked/Parented to the skeleton.Room Node. This is located right next to the FOV editor).” For a one to one correlation between what you see in MAX and what you see in IMVU, choose the Vertical button. (In MAX, you have three FOV options: horizontal, vertical and diagonal. This means that when you start building your own Rooms from scratch the camera focal length in your 3D program ought to be set to 45 degrees. However, IMVU is currently faced with two options insofar as the basic camera is concerned: 45degrees horizontally or 45 degrees vertically. “The field of view for the IMVU camera is currently set to 45 degrees. What follows is from the IMVU Developer forums: When you switch to another seat within the Room, the camera then tracks your avatar and will zoom into and swivel around to face your avatar's head. You can also pan left/right and up/down by right clicking on the window and moving your mouse, AND use the arrow keys to move around your Room. From the default camera, it is possible to zoom in and out and rotate around the camera's target by just dragging your mouse in the IMVU window. Every time you load a Room in IMVU from scratch you will start in this camera position so it is pretty important that you frame things correctly. The default camera should be named camera.01.01.root. (As I mentioned, I am basically computer illiterate.) Nothing I tried worked, and before I go spending another 3+ hours trying the rest, I guess I’d just like to know: is it even possible to run IMVU on this computer? Is there anything I can do or anything I can purchase to make it possible?Īlso: I found a topic on here with another user trying to run IMVU on a Mac, and the answer given read, “If your absolutely most importat issue is gaming, then you're probably better off with a PC.” And another person complained that they were able to download it, but it lags like mad. Each exported Room must have one camera. I tried a couple of the suggestions, but it was very slow going, like working through a high school math problem in 5 th grade. I also found a topic that seems similar on here: It took me only a bit of Googling to figure out that I needed to click on the Apple logo, then on “About this Mac.” This is what I got:Īs far I can figure out, that means I have the “Intel Core 2 Duo,” but not the “2 GB RAM,” and I can’t figure out about the video card one way or the other. It says the requirements for Macs as of May 27th, 2011 are: But when I tried to run it, I got a message reading “You cannot use the application “IMVU” with this version of Mac OS X.” However, according to the IMVU FAQs, the only requirements are, “Individuals must have a personal computer (PC or Mac) and broadband access to use IMVU.” I did find a post on the IMVU forums saying that IMVU had updated their minimum system requirements, though. My biggest issue is that I am an avid IMVU (Instant Messaging Virtual Universe), and so the first thing I did was download it. I’m also not that tech-savvy to begin with, so please forgive my complete & total ignorance in this. I am pretty lost, considering I’ve been a PC user for years I haven’t used a Mac since middle school or earlier. I recently (yesterday) got a second-hand Mac desktop from my mother.
